Tour of Sustainable Homes

McMurray Home - 4745 Oak Ridge Road in Lake Oswego

Do you want to learn more about solar PV arrays, rainwater collection systems, energy efficient lighting or other sustainable home features? The 2015 Sustainable Home Tour will give you the opportunity to talk to local homeowners about what they are doing to achieve savings, what new technology is available, financing, and how to create energy security. Sponsored by the Sustainability Advisory Board, Lake Oswego Sustainability Network, and Resiliency Organization of West Linn, the Sustainable Home Tour is a “drive yourself ” tour of four homes in Lake Oswego and West Linn from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, October 17.

McMurray Home: solar array and passive solar design for energy efficiency and to power a Tesla Roadster!

Sommer Home: solar array, reclaimed material design, and a rain barrel system combine to reduce this home’s energy and water needs.

Cha Home: green remodel of a 1980s home with a solar array, energy and water efficient design and much more make this home a great example of how to remodel sustainably.

Jackson Home: participant in Solar City’s pay-as-you-go program, this home is a great place to learn how to install solar affordably.

Art in the Burbs & Ciderfest!


Art in the Burbs

Head over to Art in the Burbs this weekend to see original works of art from over 75 juried artists, also available for sale. The Foundation’s Art in the Burbs brings a diverse range of art featuring cards, ceramics, exterior art, glass, hanging art, jewelry, textiles, wood, and alternative mediums. The event is purposefully and creatively designed to weave local artists with student artists and 20% of artist sales will be applied to support performing and fine art programs in local schools. Come and enjoy the art, crafts, entertainment, food and student gallery. Get ready to try all 30 flavors of Northwest Cider at Ciderfest this weekend at Pioneer Courthouse Square. This tasty event helps to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and its’ MDA Summer Camp in Oregon for children with neuromuscular diseases. Sat. 11-8,  Sun. 11-6.
