Mother's Day Activities She'll Love

Mother’s Day is just around the corner so now is the time to plan something special for mom!  From afternoon tea to a Mother’s Day race, there is something to suit every mom in the Portland area. Check out some of these ideas:

FOR THE TEA LOVER

Lady Di's British Store & Tea Room, located in downtown Lake Oswego, offers visitors "British Charm" at its best. The staff, all British ladies, welcome everyone with warm conversation, and a small peak into the British way of life. The tea room is not open on Sunday so schedule a Saturday tea time instead.

Tea at Hotel deLuxe features custom-blended teas from Smith Teamaker; tableside a la carte cocktail service from Portland’s expert cocktail curators, Bull in China; and a traditional menu of tea sandwiches, house-made scones and pastries.

FOR THE GARDENER MOM

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden Sale - Every year, the lovely Crystal Springs has a sale of colorful rhododendrons at the park itself and the biggest weekend is Mother’s Day. Go for a stroll through the park and take home a plant or two if you’ve been on the lookout for more color for your garden.

Mother’s Day Birds and Blooms of Canemah Bluff - Most moms will welcome a bouquet of flowers, but maybe your special mother is more of the outdoors type. Take her to the flowers with this guided walking tour of wildflowers along the Willamette River in Oregon City. $6/person or $11/family allows you and your family a tour with a naturalist.

FOR THE WINE TASTING MOM

Wine tasting and disc golf at Stoller Family Estate - Kids are welcome at this winery and you’ll find a disc golf course for all ages. You can even bring a glass of wine with you while you play. (Wear flats!) Kids will also love the rolling terrain and tire swing, and you can relax while the kiddos play. If you're up for it after you're done tasting, Evergreen Wings and Waves Waterpark is just ten short minutes away.

FOR THE ACTIVE MOM

Run Mama Run is a fun walk/run for moms and families. It all benefits Family Forward, which works for family-friendly policies. It starts with a light breakfast, followed by a kids’ fun run (free with your registration fee), then a 10k or a 5k walk/run. That should get you hungry for brunch!

The Hippie Chick Quarter & Half Marathon is an all women’s event. It is preceded by a kids’ race and followed by a breakfast at Hillsboro Stadium.
